Newton, MA – On August 30th, the Valeo Young Gunz took on the Oliver White Foundation in a 7v7 charity match at the Valeo F.C. facility. More than a dozen footballers competed this past weekend to raise money for the charities Build Africa and Boston Scores. In addition, all players brought school supplies to donate to schools in Jamaica, Cape Verde, and Haiti.

Build Africa is an African charity dedicated to using the power of education to end poverty. Through building schools, providing classroom resources and offering clean water, the foundation provides African children with the education they need to fight the inequalities that stand in their way.

The mission of Boston Scores is to provide urban youth with team-based education programs that promote health and well-being, academic engagement, and civic leadership. By partnering with the Boston Public School teachers, they are able to provide urban youth in grades K-12 with after-school soccer & enrichment programs.

Valeo F.C. was built on the principle of giving back and supporting those in need. As a club and community, we are proud to use soccer to help the community.

Stars in attendance:

The thrilling match included top corner finishes, crunching tackles, and leaping saves. To open up the scoring, Valeo F.C. outside back Dennis Pecherskiy, slotted a beautiful volley assisted by Matthew Britt Webb. The Oliver White Foundation (OWF) quickly responded with a breakaway goal. After much back and forth, the half ended 4-4.

Early in the second half, OWF scored a header and a breakaway goal to take a 2 goal lead. With 10 minutes left in the game, super sub Daniel Faynstein erupted scoring 5 goals and 2 assists with 2 top corner finishes, bringing Valeo F.C. back from a two-goal deficit. While OWF put up a great fight, Valeo F.C. walked away with a 9-6 win Valeo F.C. favor, and Faynstein was awarded man of the match.
